After I entered Middle School, chemistry and biology became my favorite subject. All the way until High School, chemistry, biology and physics stayed as my favorite courses throughout my educational career. During junior years when I had to choose the colleges that I wanted to attend, I picked colleges that had a well-known nursing program. Long Island University was one of my first choices, but the tuition was unaffordable at the time. Towards the end of my High School career I decided to deepen my understanding of science and I decided to take two Science Advance Placement class, which are Chemistry and physics. After I chose Hunter College, I decided to take all the classes that were required for Long Island Universities’ Nursing program

My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

My interest in physics was initially ignited during my sophomore year. I signed up for AP Physics 1, taught by a teacher in his first year, right out of college. His main goal was to encourage students to apply physics to the world around them and identify the relevancy of the course material. I was immediately hooked and I bought book after book about Einstein's Theory of Relativity, the Big Bang, and quantum mechanics. I was eager to learn as much as I could; in doing so, I realized that working in a laboratory setting, conducting experiments and applying equations, is something that I am truly passionate about.…

On october 5, 2015 I stared across the living room at my parents wondering how I was going to find the words to explain to them one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I had loved softball since I was a little girl and despite many years of hard work and hundreds of hours, I couldn’t help but wonder if this was the right choice for me. Growing up watching my idol, Lauren Chamberlain pursue her dreams inspired me, I spent much of my childhood emulating my hero and dreaming one day I could be just like her. My dreams were briefly interrupted when I started thinking about the future as I got older and realized that my heart really wasn't in the game of softball as much as it once was. After visits to smaller universities and long talks with head coaches, I had come to realize that playing softball in college and the small school atmosphere wasn't really what I wanted anymore.…
