Standardized Testing Misunderstandings

What I learned about standardized testing is that it’s a test that requires all the test takers to answer the same questions or a selection of questions from common bank of questions. I also believe that if the score is in a standard manner, it makes it possible to compare the relative performance of individual students or group of students. I also learned that with a standardized test it an include true or false questions, short answer questions, essay questions, or a mix of these question types. In regard to his recommendation, I think that it is a good idea because it can be less stressful on the students and the teachers. When its “teaching to the test” the scores in different cities or states would always go down because the students would not be ready at all for them. His recommendation can easily make children be more prepared to a random or particular test.
This would have made a great impact for me in high school honestly. I’m also not a great test taker so when it was time to do the ACT’s, I really struggled with it. Even though I got a 19, which

The second misunderstanding was there was going to be to be one tool that is going to tell you everything that you need to know about an individual child and that just really not that important. The last misunderstanding that was discussed was that we misunderstand how young children learn in terms of expecting children to sort of learn on mass in groups. We think we can quote “present a lesson,” everyone is going to grasp that lesson, and that we’ll be able to assess and see if everyone has learned this same piece of information.
