The first part of the analysis focuses on the application of the Stakeholder theory on the case of MUL and SMC Corporation and at the end it leads towards the role of Japanese FDI and the impact on infrastructure development. As mentioned in Chapter 2 business is simply about how various stakeholders interact and create value. To understand a business and the relation between the firm and its stakeholders it is very important to recognize how each stakeholder is allied with the firm. In the case of Maruti Suzuki this has been done from the beginning. Osamu Suzuki’s entry in SMC was in the 1970s. He was a banker with a good banking network. He married the granddaughter of Michio Suzuki, the founder of SMC. In 1978 Osamu became the president of SMC. The joint venture with India was the most remarkable project of Osamu Suzuki; he helped SMC to expand its operations overseas.
