Stages of the psycho sexual development given by Sigmund Freud are as follows :-

Oral (Birth to 18 months) - In this stage the child gets pleasure through sucking and the child is more concentrated towards the oral pleasures. Over or little gratification may lead in the oral fixation that are evident by the oral personality. These personality are more prone to drink alcohol, smoke cigarette, develops the habit to overeat and has the habit of cutting or biting his or her nails. Also these personality are more likely to be dependent on others or over perpetual. Also these persons are more likely to develop negative attitudes towards others and agitation towards others. According to this theory most of the sexual boosts are restrained during the latent phase and the immense sexual feelings and the energy are focused in the direction of the school work, hobbies and the friend circles. Mostly the energy of the child are directed towards generating new ideas, innovations, skills and getting new knowledges and the play gets greatly comprehended to the other children of the same gender.

Genital (11-12 to sexual maturation) - This is the final phase of the psychosexual development which begins with the onset of puberty when sexual demands are once again aroused. By the lessons learnt in the past phases of development, adolescents focus their sexual demands in to the opposite sex peer groups, also with the basic target of the pleasure is the genitals. In this phase the main focus is on matured sexual relationships.
