Thomas Aquinas’ mother heard that he wanted to join the Dominican Order, she placed him inside the castle for one year. Then, his brothers hired a woman to change his ways. Legends say he drove this woman off with a fire iron, and two angels later appeared to strengthen his will (Catholic Online). St. Thomas Aquinas then began to study at the University of Naples, where he met many influential philosophers, like Aristotle (Biography). St. Thomas Aquinas continued to study. He was very quiet and they perceived him as “slow”, so his classmates called him a “dumb ox” (Sister Mary Kathleen). After St. Thomas Aquinas finished his education, he started to work on theology and teaching about the word and the Christian religion St. Thomas Aquinas clarified that philosophy and theology both come from God. St. Thomas Aquinas also taught about the five ways of proving that God is existent. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote about sixty books. Many different types of books were made by St Thomas Aquinas, ranging from explanations of the Bible to discussion of Aristotle’s writing.
