St. Lidwina

St. Lidwina is the patron saint of ice skating, her feast day is April 14. She was born April 18, 1380 and she died April 14, 1433. Her parents were fairly poor and she grew up with eight brothers. I chose to research this saint because I love ice skating, I was very surprised and excited to find that there is actually a patron saint for my favorite sport. Although her story is different than most, she still shows a great example of trusting in God.
Around the time she was 15, Lidwina fell while ice skating with friends. In the process, she broke a rib and was told that it would never heal. This began the process that would only end with her death nearly 40 years later. Her injury is the reason we recognize her today
