St. Jude Dream

A year ago, I could not have dreamt of what I would be doing in the near future. I had so many aspirations and ideas for things we could be doing to improve our school and community, but I had no means through which to have my voice heard. Only now, through Student Council, have I gained the life skills needed to accomplish such a task. My newfound passion for the children of St. Jude has come to fruition in the past year, after seeing all that we can accomplish as a team to assist them. To see our impact on the world is truly inspiring. As a freshman, it was eye-opening to witness all of the love and support that our community pours into this life saving effort. My only wish now is to continue serving our community by using my talents to help lead and inspire my …show more content…
Dedication is attending school, going to practice, and then heading home to work on schoolwork for the rest of the evening. Dedication is waking up at 5 o’clock in the morning to bake cookies for the Fight For Life bake sale. Dedication is taking over my friend’s shifts for concessions because they needed a helping hand. I could never say no to a friend in need, whether it be a classmate or a patient. I am always willing to do whatever it takes to support my hometown. I am a bit of a perfectionist, and it shows in my effort as well as my grades. I first fell in love with the idea of serving my community last year when I applied to be a class officer. I wanted to put my best foot forward while representing my class. While I will be stepping down from that position, I still carry those same values today. I want to be on Student Council because I feel like it is my duty to give back and serve as best as I can, since my community has done so much to make Eureka a great place for me to grow up. I am prepared to step outside of my comfort zone to lead with integrity and represent my high

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

Almost four years ago, I entered Clackamas High School as a confused, shy, awkward freshman. Soon after entering the hallways of this school, I was assigned to a Freshman Assurance group and met with the group leaders. My group leaders were vivacious seniors, who were condescending and gave very little advice on high school. I felt a little intimidated by them, and the activities that they led made most of the freshmen in our group uncomfortable. They told us about their craziest stories and about the teachers who weren't of the most pleasant experience.…

As I introduced more extra-curricular activities into my life, organization became more important -- and I was shocked to see how much it helped me save…

It was April 15th, 2013 and I was the 15-year-old, innocent sophomore with a perfect record, sitting in the principal’s office waiting for my punishment. Throughout my highschool years, I have reflected upon how I have grown as a global citizen and as an academic student. These reflections are usually based upon different projects I have completed in class or presentations that were assigned to me, but this year has allowed me to reflect on unique experiences. I have become more aware of the situations that happen in the real world; this has strengthened my skills for college and my future career, which shows my growth as an academic student. This semester I have also started an organization here at school that both shows my growth as a global citizen and will, in hopes, help the community, and the people living in it.
