The day of the Spring Musical auditions, I was trembling in fear as I was shoved playfully into the audition room by my friends. I walked in and was immediately blinded by the stage lights in front of the place were everything was going to go down. I sang the section of the song "Human" with as much confidence as I could to three tired, but anticipating judges. I walked out feeling with a mix of emotions. Fear, that I wasn't going to get in. Sadness, because I thought I messed up the whole thing. Yet, I was ecstatic to find out if I was going to be a part of the musical. That's where it all started. That was the day I started to change. "The results are being posted.....TODAY!" I nervously repeated to all my friends. Soon, 2:40 pm came and I dashed out of history class when the final bell rang. I zoomed down the hallway to my locker and opened it with one try. My bag was already packed, so I put on my coat as fast as possible and closed my locker. August, my best friend, met me in front of the sixth grade wing, and together we shuffled to the small piece of paper that had our futures written on it. I had to read it five times to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks. Yep, that was my name, under Harvard Student/Delta Nu. Yes...that was August's name, right in front of mine. Three eighth graders said speeches about how well we worked together and how much fun we were going to have on stage. Once it was 7pm, we silently tiptoed onto the stage, as quiet as mice, and got into our positions. I was standing on a big podium in the back of the stage, soaring above everything else. I was standing next to August, with Kaegan behind me. We all hugged and I whispered as quietly as I could "Let's do

Before I knew it, I was having my last performance. The awards were going to be announced, at the end of the concert and I thought that one of the other girls were going to receive the award. This was my perception because I thought that one of the other seniors had deserved more than I had. I thought that there had to have been another member of the color guard who had worked their butts of more than I did and deserved to be recognized for it. As I was contemplating on who would deserve the award, my attention was drawn to the performance area.…

I was so happy I was near the front of the line because I wanted to stand out and make them remember me. While sitting there group after group kept going in it was getting close to my turn. While lined up behind these huge gray doors waiting for the judges to call us in, I didn’t think I could make it. My knees started shaking and I felt the butterflies in my stomach going crazy. Stepping on that blue mat I thought I had forgot what I had learned that week to make the team.…

"Good better best, never let it rest, 'till your good is better and your better is best." These simple words were spoken to me by my high school band director Cheldon Williams on the first day of my high school experience. This, followed by my experience of marching band and my eventual learning of piano sparked a period of introspective thought, and mental growth, that transcended to where I am today. Never in my life did I think my hard work and dedication inspired by Mr. Williams words would land me at Interlochen Center for the Performing Arts Boarding School. These words became a core part of what I am, and from freshman year on would encourage me to never set a limit on my potential, and my overall worth.…

I have always had a love of the arts, but it wasn't until I was a munchkin in The Wizard of Oz that I knew I wanted to be an actor. Up until that point, I had just wanted to sing, but being up on that stage made me want to do musicals for the rest of my life. But what really made me want to pursue musical theatre was that it has been the only way for me to truly express my emotions. When I was younger, I was made fun of as a little kid. So when I was in the Sound of Music, I was surrounded by a company that loved me, and I loved them.…

It was a Thursday, I walked in the band room being greeted by all my band members that were all excited, I felt the opposite. I was full of anxiety, very spaced out to the world; myself being a senior, being my last year of marching band meant I was high candidate on being chosen to be a band leader.
