Split Personalities
How should society deal with people diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID? In a WebMD mental health article, “Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)”, split personality is defined as, “ Is thought to be a complex psychological condition that is likely caused by many factors, including severe trauma during early childhood (usually extreme, repetitive physical, sexual, or emotional abuse).” Dissociative Identity Disorder has a relative meaning to dreaming. It is fascinating and thrilling to quite so many people when pretending to be somebody else. Another way is by tricking another person by telling him or her a fake name when introducing yourself. Each has his or her own postures, gestures, and distinct way of talking. Sometimes the alters are imaginary people; sometimes they are animals.” There are many ways to deal with people who have DID. That is when therapy and special medication are used to treat this disorder. For example, the medicine will control and slow down or prevent the mind from jumping to another personality. Some people get Dissociative Identity Disorder because of their environment. Generally, the surroundings and synthetic causes contribute to taking on another personality or day dream. There are minor and major cases of multiple personality disorder.
