Spinal Fusion Research Paper

Spinal fusion is a serious surgery to think about. There are many things to think about like after having surgery you won’t be able to eat or drink for at least two to three days and you’ll be sleeping all the time. There’s going to be a lot of pain. You’ll be doing your normal activities differently. I was in middle school when I had spinal fusion. The day of the surgery I was nervous/ excited. It was awesome watching the nurses put the IVs in my arms and hands. Spinal fusion is a thing to think about, ask questions, and be aware of the activities that the patient will be going through. Before the surgery there are many preparations that have to be done. When you arrive at the hospital you will put on a hospital gown and the nurse anesthetist will give you general anesthesia for surgery. Preparing for lumbar spinal fusion said “no food or drink is permitted past midnight ”page 2. You’re not allowed to eat or drink past midnight because it will effect the IV. Although you can’t eat or drink you’ll also have to make sure your not sick. It’s important that you don’t eat or drink past midnight and also don’t get sick. Day of Surgery Admissions said “A nurse will take your vital signs ( temperature, pulse, respiratory rate and blood pressure)” page 3. The nurses make sure you're healthy enough for the operations. After the nurse checks the vitals signs the nurse anesthesia will give you general anesthesia. Make sure you're healthy enough for the operations and also you're in good shape to. Spinal Fusion Surgery Guide says “you will have general anesthesia for your surgery” page 6. When the nurse anesthesia gives you general anesthesia you’ll be out in seconds. There are many things and rules that happens before surgery. It’s also important to listen to your doctor before the surgery
