Software utilities can speed up the operating system in numerous ways. Examples of speeding it up by using software utilities include programs that allow the computer memory or processing power to be handled better. The way this works is that the unnecessary processes for your computer can be prevented from running if the user does not a certain process running in the background, the result of this is that the computer performance will run a lot faster once some processes have been stopped. There are clean up tools on the computer system that can improve the computer performance. Not necessarily done to directly increase the speed, but the storage capacity, which will ultimately increase the speed slightly. The way you can do this is by using tools such as defragmentation. This will collect files throughout the computer system that have been split up amongst the hard drive and bring them together, using less storage space and freeing up hard disk space. Another clean up tool is the deletion of temporary files. Temporary files are saved onto the computer which let you load up web pages quicker next time you access them, but if you never visit the page again, the files are just wasting potential Hard disk

RAM Random access memory (RAM) provides temporary application data storage. Instead of having to go back and find information on the hard drive every time a computer needs a piece of data, the computer temporarily stores frequently used files on RAM, making them easier to find. When the computer shuts down, all the data in RAM is erased or transferred to the hard drive, making room for new data when the computer begins operating again. ROM Read-only memory (ROM) is used to store data that controls the most basic computer functionality, such as starting up, detecting peripherals and operating the computer fan. As the name suggests, the data cannot be edited by the system or users and, unlike RAM, the data stays recorded even when the computer…
