During the year of 776 A.D., the first Olympic games took place in Ancient Greece. The purpose of those games was to honor Zeus but years later, the games still continued. This time they served a different purpose. The games were meant to be peaceful, and a way for other countries to interact with each other. Soon, the popularity of sports increased through Europe. People believed that sports taught the concept of cooperation, increased political gain, and some thought it benefitted human health.
