People have always brought up the thought provoking question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I always used to say a superhero or the president. At that age, the military and being a part of medicine never crossed my mind. Now, those pathways are what I truly want to achieve. I have a strong passion for our country and offering aid where it’s needed.…
Applying this to my educational career has gotten me far in my achievements and experiences. I’ve always enjoyed being involved in my school and with my peers. While in high school I have joined clubs and participated in various school groups and activities. I have been an active member of the National Honor Society (NHS) chapter for my entire highschool career. I was invited to become a member of NHS because of my high academics and positive characteristics.…
Even when I have a few bumps in the road, I continue to display that I am an active student who incorporates scholarship, leadership, character, and service into my busy schedule. After school, I participate in several activities. For example, a friend of mine…
For many years, I have dreamed of going to college to pursue a career, which is a necessity in order to obtain success. Many people need help acquiring the means to go to college. This is one of the reasons why I am applying for the Mississippi Association of Federal Education Program Directors (MAFEPD) scholarship. I deserve to be chosen for this scholarship because I am hardworking, determined, and persistent student. I attend Bay Springs High School.…
I am actively involved in multiple after school activities, such as clubs and sports. Also, I participate in various activities outside of school including community service. While I do participate in multiple things in and outside of school I am motivated and manage my time well; therefore, I have been able to participate fully in all of the activities I choose to do. I enjoy being a part of the community in school as well as the larger community outside of school and feel that I can be a successful and active National Honor Society member because of these qualities.…
In addition, I am diligent in my participation in social activities. I am involved in many honors societies and clubs that prioritize social involvement and enthusiasm to the field it focuses on such as National Honors Society, Drama Club/ Thespian Honors Society, National Dance Honors Society and Tri M Music Honors Society. Conjointly, I have held leadership positions and acted in further volunteer settings with these groups such as Secretary for National Dance Honors Society (2014-2015), President for National Dance Honors Society (2015-2016), Social Chair for Drama Club (2014-2015) and volunteer Hawkfest (school spring festival) performer for Drama Club (2014). This shows that I’ve gone beyond the traditional classroom setting in order to participate socially and to challenge myself academically and in extracurricular activities with leadership positions. Finally, as someone who hopes to study international business and Mandarin Chinese, I notably apply myself to global…
The knights of Columbus should consider me, Emily Rosales for this scholarship since my utmost aspiration is to follow the mission that God has given to me by helping my neighbors with dignity and respect. My mission began as an altar server when I received my first Holy Communion “The Body of Christ” at Holy Cross Catholic Church in 2009. Then as an usher which lasted for a year volunteered in the EDGE program for three years, and participated in the Vacation bible study for a week during summer in 2014. Currently, I am still an altar serving and Eucharistic Minister. In addition, I volunteered for a year at mesa public library, where I organized the books in the right place, I helped customers get their library card, helped kids and even…
I am involved in several extracurricular activities, and though I do not hold office in all of them, I strive to serve as a leader and to use my knowledge to advance the causes of the organizations. When I attended the Georgia Capitol with the National Honor Society, I noticed how impressed our state's representatives were with their achievement. Seeing this recognition has fueled my desire to become a member of the National Honor Society. I feel that I possess many important characteristics that will help me to be successful in life. I am very dedicated to the activities that I participate in, including school, church, sports, and extracurricular activities.…
I competed in business related competitions through Future Business Leaders of America and learned about common rules in a place of business such as expected dress code. The extracurriculars I have been in helped me become involved in things other than my school work and give me a place to socialize in a good…
I want to be a part of the NSF-REU program because I know I would make a great contribution. In an informal research project for my biology lab course, I led a team of four in a time-crunched, self-created lab. I took up the role of leadership, assigned tasks, organized meetings and worked outside of class hours to complete the testing. Taking charge wasn’t always easy for me but, at the College of Saint Benedict, there is a NSF S-STEM scholarship program called FoCuS. The program provides mentorship, leadership training and academic opportunities to students with a heavy interest in the sciences.…
Along with academics, I also spend my time participating in co-curricular activities. These activities include sports- basketball, volleyball, and softball- and other school clubs -forensics, FFA, and FBLA. I partake in these activities for the learning experience, but also to be part of more and more teams. I believe working with others to accomplish a goal helps construct many valuable life skills such as communication, patience, and being organized. I have very few amounts of spare time, but if I ever get the chance to use that time for helping others, I am more than glad to give it up.…
While on a tour I learned that during the school year there were always activities going on outside the buildings. I’m very involved in my high school and community. I have taken on leadership positions in a lot of my clubs to expand the student involvement. On top of involvement in my student community, I am also involved in my town’s communities. I have given speeches to politicians on behalf of my town and volunteered at places like my local nursing home.…
My first ever experience with NASA came through VSCS, and I was lucky enough to be selected for the Summer Academy. I had no idea what that week would entail, but I knew that it would prove to be one of the best times of my life. Just as I thought, that week instilled in me a new goal that would ultimately lead to a career involving research at a NASA facility. During that week, I learned to plan a mission, build a rocket, all while being taught by mentors, NASA personnel, and teachers. One of the best group of mentors I had the pleasure of working with was the interns assigned to us for both our…
Every day, my generation is bombarded with the new statistics and burdens of college expenses. The cost of college is becoming an ever-looming weight, shared by almost all students. The Forty Acres Scholars Program would help relieve this burden, and allow me to focus my attention on changing the world (and not on how to pay my next student loan installment). For example, though I've listed my desire to develop earlier computer science exposure, I also have a secret obsession with space exploration. As our population continues booming (currently at a rate of 250 people per minute), it is painfully obvious that our Earth will be unable to sustain the human race.…
