For the first time in my life, a trip to the East Coast for a program changed my perspective about society and has motivated me to break the norm. It was something we were not accustomed to. Our trip leaders witnessed this and asked aloud the question all of us were thinking, What the diversity like here? We all pay close attention hangin at the edge of our sets for the response, while on the other hand parents across the room fall back into their seats for they did not care. I especially can never forget the eyes of the woman across from turning back so fast into her head and in result a disgusting reaction to a question that did not apply to her white son. This was the first time I had witnessed a form of racism , other than what's shown on tv. It had never felt so degrading until now that when two children of different backgrounds aspire the same dream, are not considered
