Sometimes in April is a movie that shows the Rwandan Genocide in 1994. The movie shows the events of the genocide through flashbacks between two brothers. The first brother is Augustin Muganza, a captain in the Rwanda army. The second brother Honoré Butera, is a radio speaker that talks about politics in Rwanda. The brothers have picked their own path and are living with the consequences of those choices in the present.
The Rwanada genocide in 1994 is a genocide that targeted the Tutsi people of Rwanda. The genocide started from the back of the Rwanda civil war with the Hutu government and the RPF or Rwanda Patriotic Front. With the tensions being very high with the civil war it was very easy for something to happen to set things off. When a plane was shot down containing Habyarimana and Burundi’s president Cyprien Ntaryamira this was the last straw and the peace talks ended. should have done more to help the Rwandan people, because of our negligence we allowed thousands of people to die that very well may not have died if the U.S. would have stepped in. our failure to recognize the genocide and not having enough political motivation to step in showed how we care to much about our image and ultimately lead to 800,000 people dying. the U.S. has to assess the situation every time and make their best guess on whether or not to do something about the situation. When you think that soldiers are needed to fix the situation you must decide if the cause is worth letting people die for. There are many times where countries have gone in and killed their soldiers where maybe it wasn’t worth it, but when an ethnic group of people are purposely targeting another group of people and killing them, then you need to
