I am the school nurse at an elementary school of 460 students, grades K-5. My school typically has about 25-30 ELLs. Last year and this year, I have had several students that came from another country and didn’t speak any English. I have found that the frustration that some of these students face in the classroom bring about many somatic complaints. These somatic complaints land these students in the Health Office. I created a book that has pictures and simple phrases depicting all the reasons that a student may end up in my office.
