When considered together, you can end up with a great glove pattern that suits you. Remember that the pattern of the softball glove determines its specialized capabilities and performance in the game. Different positions need different glove patterns.

Usually third basemen opt longer gloves that feature closed webs. They get the harder hits thus, a closed pocket is needed for support and protection. The standard glove size for infielders usually range from 11.25-12 inches.

Outfielder Softball Gloves

Traditional outfielders include the left, center and right fielder. Their gloves are larger and longer compared to other player’s gloves. They prefer deep pockets and open webbing with closed backs. Large softball gloves allow outfielder to catch pop flies easily. The open webbing design gives them better visibility of the ball.
Moreover, the deep pockets support better hold of the ball while the open webbing lessens glare from stadium lights or the sun. The usual size of an outfielder glove ranges from 9-15 inches. This year Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs was hit by 20 pitches one of them breaking his finger and getting himself a spot on the injured reserve. He is on pace to get hit by 53 pitches this year.
