1. Wright PS. in 1984 stated that there is sufficient evidence available for use of soft liner but because of its inadequate physical properties the use of soft liner is limited. The objectives of the study were:
1. Clinical success of the available soft liner material and their retrospective study.
2. The collection and measurement of data relating to a group of wearing soft-lined mandibular dentures for edentulous patients.
3. A three year longitudinal study of the clinical success of both available and new soft-lining materials.
He investigated soft liner material for 18 months and concluded that soft liner provided comfort to patients. They considered soft liner as a successful material but still it wasn’t give satisfactory clinical results.

Nimmo A., Fong BJ., Hoover CI., Newbrun E. in 1985 evaluated tissue-conditioning materials are used to improve the health of inflamed denture-bearing tissues and also use to make functional impressions for reline procedures. For both of these uses, a uniform mix with minimal air incorporation in the tissue conditioner is desirable. If the air incorporated it produces voids in the material and these voids are undesirable for several reasons. When material used as a tissue-conditioning material, voids may provide shelter for debris and bacteria that will irritate the tissue. Due to voids inaccuracy in the functional impression occurs. Vacuum treatment of tissue-conditioning material provide solution to the problem of voids in the material. Vacuum-mixing is widely used to reduce the entrapment of air in gypsum products. The purposes of this study were to determine (1) reduction of void formation in tissue-conditioning material with use of vacuum treatment and (2) effect of microbial adherence on material with use of vacuum …show more content…
Kawano F., Tada N., Nagao K., Matsumoto N. in 1991 evaluated that several soft lining materials are available which differ in physical and mechanical properties. The properties of soft lining materials were investigated by using various tests like static creep test and a pressure distribution test. Six typical soft lining materials were used. On soft lining materials the pressure on the testing plate were equally distributed. For external forces soft lining material act as a cushion. However, the variation of pressures increased in cases of Hydro-cast and Softone materials, but decreased in case of Coe-comfort

Dental assistants place an important role in the delivery of dental care. This quarter I learned about basic dental procedures such as composite and amalgam restorations, as well as how to fabricate and cement a temporary crown. I applied this information during our lab class and made a temporary for my typodont. I was good at making a triple tray so we don’t need to make all those three opposing arch impression, bite registration and final impression which made the procedure done efficiently . Also, I placed amalgam restoration on my typodont with amalgam carrier, condenser and other instruments.…

At 28 days after burn, pig circumference in picture B was measured and compression garments were applied at a 10 percent reduction in circumference and vest with no reduction in circumference was placed over control burns. To evaluate the magnitude of pressure exerted by the compression garments, compression garment fabric was wrapped around a load cell of a mechanical tester (TestResources, Shakopee, Minn) at a 10 percent reduction in circumference and pressure was tracked continuously for 12hours. A representative plot of pressure versus time was reported in picture C which shows quantification of pressure was generated by a compression garment fitted to a 10 percent reduction in circumference SCAR CONTRACTION The scars of the pig had been taken some pictures at day 0,7,28,42,56 and 78.…

As the representative of our unit for the Wound Champion Council, I would like to recommend a product as a solution to prevent acquired pressure sores in our unit. If recent NDNQI audit shows, our unit still struggles to prevent or identify our high-risk patients for pressure sores. This audit reveals that our current method of “It takes two” nurses on checking patient’s skin on admission is not reliable and insufficient in preventing pressure ulcers. After my extensive research of looking ways to decrease the rate of unit acquired pressure ulcers in our unit, there is one particular product that stands out; the SEM scanner. I will discuss in details how this scanner is beneficial to our unit.…
