Sod A Short Story

Soda,
I’m very sorry I didn’t tell you earlier, but i was afraid you would worry about me. Right when I thought that nothing else would be worse than being hit by Darry… As I am writing this letter right now, I still can’t believe… quiet, harmless Johnny who wouldn’t dare hurt a living thing… It was all my fault. I just want to let you know that I am very sorry and please don’t worry about me, both you and Darry. Although I know that Darry doesn’t even think or bother to care about me, just let him know that I loved Darry even though I always denied it. As of now, I cannot say anything about where I am going, or where I’m at. There is one thing that I can tell you… it is about what had happened last night. Soda, before I tell you anything, please note that this was

I would like you to hear this from me before you see it in the papers… Okay, here it goes… After I ran away from home that night, I found Johnny and we were going to the park to relax and just when I thought nothing could’ve gotten worse… I sure was wrong because a Blue Mustang was cruisin’ by and right in front of me and Johnny, appeared five Socs. The one that I significantly remember was named Bob. Remember that one time the Socs beat up Johnny so bad, he fainted? Well, Bob was the Soc that bruised up Johnny’s face with his fist of rings. Well, they had come for us because we had ‘picked up their girls’. (that’s a whole ‘nother story) Anyways, Bob was trying to drown me in the fountain… At this point, I was no longer conscious, but I had opened my eyes to a huge shock… Everything seemed to be alright, until I caught a hold of myself and Johnny said that he had stabbed Bob. I feel guilty. It was all my fault that poor, harmless Johnny stabbed someone. Because they were drowning me, Johnny killed Bob. I am sorry… I am sorry!!! Please tell Darry for me that I don’t

When the boys have reconvened at the destroyed car, two young women arrive, presumably calling the corpse’s name, Al. When asked about Al’s whereabouts, the narrator and his friends, fearful of being associated with their most recent assault, reply in the negative. The most telling moment of the story, however, comes when one of the young women, drunk, offers the boys some drugs: “‘Hey you guys look like some pretty bad characters—been fightin’ huh?...you want to party, you want to do some of these with me and Sarah?’…I thought I was going to cry” (11). The marks of their recent fighting do not give their true impression—of an assault, potential murder, and attempted rape. Instead the girl associates them with frivolous excitement, completely amiss that Al floats dead in Greasy Lake.…

A Reflection: The Danger of a Single Story As most people, my story consists of an abundance of struggle, trial and error, and also lessons. These challenges, in addition to the lessons, have brought upon stress, anxiety, and even depression into my life. In the book The Outsiders there is a lot of gang violence including street fights, robberies, and ganging up on one of the the opposing gang members. S.E. Hinton describes the Socs as the wealthier people that live in the better parts of town and the Greasers as the poor trashy part of town. Even though the Socs and Greasers aren’t that different, they still have war with each other for no apparent reason. Some people don't understand that Socs don’t act as the ideal Socs are, and some Greasers don’t act as the ideal Greaser. What sparked the big fight was when Johnny was defending himself and stabbed a Soc so Ponyboy didn’t get drowned by a few of them.…
