Family Assessment of Shelby Eatenton Latcherie Family does not have a universal definition, and over the years the definition has changed from a traditional mother, father, and children to several variations. Examples of these are parents that are unmarried, are of the same sex and those that do not live in the same household but do what is called co-parenting. The definition of family according to Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, Tabacco, & Hanson (2015) is "Family refers to two or more individuals who depend on one another for emotional, physical, and economic support. The members of the family are self defined" (p. 5). The movie, Steel Magnolias, is based on a true story but names, details and events have been changed.…

The most important historical event in the history of human services profession was the development of the social welfare system and the social welfare policy that provided insurance. The system was formed to improve racial and economic discrimination. This event was support to the poor, the people who was in poverty. The landowners needed slaves or servants to work. Today, television is an incredibly large part of basic American culture, with many people’s lives revolving completely around the little screens, or sometimes large, that dominate nearly every single living room in the modern family’s home. But, in the late 1940s, when TV was first introduced, this wasn’t the case. Television has always been on a rollercoaster between fads, and new technologies introduced throughout the decades. But one of the overall most influential decades for the television and the evolution of the entertainment aired for the people through it.…
The interview on my grandma (Mary, Ellen, Schambow) told me many things relating to her and are family like she told me her dad was adopted by her mom’s aunt and uncle and later they married, she told me they were from wisconsin, that some of our family traditions are to grill out in the summer and invite the whole family, I was told that she is French, German, and Irish, we were also settlers from those countries, she has only lived in Wisconsin, that are family usually makes bakery goods like cookies, pies, and angel food cake, are main job in our family is farming, working on the farm influenced her to be independent and hands on, and are family mostly lives in France but are in other parts of the world like Ireland, and Germany. What I have learned from this project is that family comes from different places and different backgrounds so grouping people into different things makes no sense at all. Another thing I have learned is that genealogy is related to culture by traditions and cultures getting passed down generation by…
Genogram Paper Jermaine Hibbert Seton Hall University Genogram Paper Engaging in the genogram assignment proved to be a challenging, arduous, and enlightening experience to say the least. Although, my genogram is not as extensive and accurate as it could be, that in and of it-self proved to be an area of unexplored learning of growth. Firstly, I will cover the information I was able to glean from my journalism like exploits with the few family members I knew well enough to answer some of the tell-all questions I was expected ask. Secondly, I will attempt to explore and process as best as I can all the limitations, whether self imposed or boundaries that my large, yet somewhat disconnected family has set in place.…

These attributes also have an impact on how the family interacts with one another on a daily bases. In the book, Family Interaction a Multigenerational Developmental Perspective, written by Stephen A. Anderson and Ronald M. Sabetelli, explains how family strategies are created…
After concluding the genogram, it dawned on me that my family didn’t necessarily have many issues regarding emotional relationships. I think most of it has to deal with the recent transition of a laid-back household to a religious household where my parents are very much involved with the church alongside my younger siblings. With that being said I did notice that my paternal family had a higher chance of dying young whereas my maternal family had a much longer lifespan. I also took into consideration that the marriages that occurred where between individuals that where only a couple of years apart from one another. I can’t claim any educational patterns that have occurred within the household since I’ve been the only one who’s attended college.…
Family Introduction Creating this genogram was a difficult task for me because my parents and their siblings hardly communicate with each other anymore. Ever since the passing of both my paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother, the families have simply fallen apart. Many relatives have distanced themselves from their extended families, and no longer have a desire to interact with their siblings or cousins. Sociopolitical and spiritual issues have caused some members of both families to harbor resentment against one another.…

Genogram Assignment Upon reviewing my family history for this assignment . I discovered many shared characteristics of both nature and nurture . McGoldrick (2015) writes that “genograms help social workers get to know their client” and helps in building rapport as well. Another reason why genograms should be implemented in social workers practice is that “they are tangible and graphic representations of complex family patterns” (McGoldrick, 2015). Genograms allow individuals to learn about their family relationships. In addition, the creation of a genogram allows individuals to validate their family history (McGoldrick, 2015). My family genogram allowed me to become more self-aware and I was able to validate my family history.…
