While many of the topics in this article resonated with on a personal level, what I think applied to my life the most was the section dealing with Social Skill deficits. Parks identifies interactions with family and peers as being crucial for the development of lifelong social skills. I feel as though I missed out on many opportunities in my childhood to develop those skills and that I am now making up for lost time. I have seemingly always been a quiet person that has kept to myself but, I have made noticeable progress recently to improve the quality of my relationships with both my friends and my family members.
