The Importance of Marketing Strategies According to Heidi Cohen of the actionable marketing guide, “marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.” Marketing is a crucial addition to the everyday world. Without marketing many of the world’s most prosperous companies would not be. When the word “marketing” is mentioned there are thoughts of simplicity. However, marketing is not simple at all. It is the procedure of acquiring attention or popularity on social media in order to gain consumers (What is social media marketing?). Social media is taking over everyday lives. According to Marketing Statistics Trends and Data, an article by Hubspot, an inbound marketing company, “the majority of marketers (59%) are using social media for 6 hours or more each week.” According to Jayson Demyers of Forbes Magazine “92% of marketers in 2014 claimed that social media marketing was important got their business, with 80% indicating their efforts increased traffic to other websites.” Social media provides many advantages for marketers and/or business companies. If a business is markets on social media there are many benefits, one benefit being conversion opportunities according to Demyers. Being that social media has the ability to allow users to communicate one-on-one marketers can interact with customers easily (Demyers). This helps the company know what customers favor, and it allows the company to convert followers into customers (Demyers). Besides the aforementioned, social media marketing raises brand authority or superiority. When happy customers brag about a company’s product on social media, the company may gain more customers, thus resulting in the brand being better …show more content…
According to Susan Gunelius, there are ten extremely important “laws” social media marketers must follow. The first law is listening. Marketers should be active listeners, interacting with and listening to their target market (Gunelius). The second law is to focus. This is merely projecting that marketers should pursue social media marketing at a high rate, and not focus on more expensive, and time consuming forms of marketing (Gunelius). The third is quality. Quality refers to connection and/or networkers. Less is best in terms of quality, because one can maintain 1,000 connections better than 10,000 connections (Gunelius). The fourth law is patience. In order to grow clientele one must have patients. Growing large sums of customers most likely will not happen in a matter of minutes
