A person instead of writing “I have removed him from my friend’s list” would write instead “I have unfriend him.” Such a trend challenges the cultural norms of school teaching students on use of proper wordings in their assignments and essays. Students may find it comfortable to write ‘U’ instead ‘You’ or ‘b4’ instead ‘before.’ The use of smileys may well replace the use of difficult words of emotions which would be used by traditional English speakers to express their feelings towards the listener.
