Social Influenced My Writing

Writing can be an essay thing or a hard thing to do. During school hours students will need to write to take notes or write an essay for their English class. My writing is not as good as I would like it to be. There have been a few things that have influenced my writing capabilities such as my school experience and my social influences.
My writing was influenced by the time I had spent in school. To begin with, English was one of my weakest subjects in school. Most importantly I'd say my attitude towards writing is an issue. I never liked to read or write. My strongest subject was math and I would decide to focus more on that then my writing abilities. Every time I had homework I would save the writing part for last and focus on other things instead. Anytime we had a research paper I would wait until the last minute to write it. Writing is such a hassle to do every time.

I never considered myself to be an excellent writer but still thought I wrote well enough to get my point across without confusing the reader too much. However, any confidence that I had in my writing skills was lost for a short time when I had to write my first timed essay in school. Luckily, the timed essay assignment also helped me see that I needed to work on my writing and, as a result, actually turned out to be a more positive experience rather than a negative one. It was just another regular school day that was near its end, and I had one more class to go to before everyone was released to go home.…

Adequate writing was always a struggle for me because I struggled with coming up with topics to write about. Even when teachers gave us prompts to write about I struggled writing about them mostly because I thought writing was boring. Another reason I was discouraged by writing was I would spend hours at a time trying to come up with ideas for a prompt and would barely come up with any ideas to write about. Being a civil engineering major I see why writing is so important in my career field. My experience with writing has had its good moments and its bad moments.…

Most people can`t be a better writer because they are not engaged with the writing material. The reason why they can't relate to the subject matter is because the professors usually give their students something they are not interested in and then make them write about it. When a student is not interested in something the students don't tend focus as much as they would if it was something they would like. In middle school and high schools writing course don`t teach in a way to help the students learn the material. I remember being able to sit down for hours on end and write full pages worth of writing. Whether it made any sense, had proper grammar, and even if it was legible didn’t matter to me. It was writing that I could truly say was my own and be proud of.…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…
