Sobibor: Movie Analysis

The escape was a dangerous, exciting, and liberating time. Like many other death camps, Sobibor was created during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a devastating, murderous, atrocious time when Jews were slaughtered just because they were Jews. If you were not killed, you were sent to death camps, such as Sobibor, where you would work under miserable conditions. People that could not work like mothers, children, and the elderly were sent to the gas chambers to be poisoned to death. The escape was when Jews devised a plan to escape from Sobibor with all 600 people that were in it. It all started with the inflation staring in 1914 and ending in 1923. Inflation is when the money becomes less valuable and therefore you pay more for your food and don’t get the amount you should have paid for it. It put lots of people living in Germany out of their jobs and the environment became very poor and weak. Just as the Germans were getting back on their feet, the stock market crashed in 1929. People lost tons of money and many companies went out of business because so many people sold their stocks back so they wouldn’t lose everything. The stock market crash didn’t last long, but as a result of it, the Great Depression started. The Great Depression started in 1929 and lasted until 1939. As all of this was going on, Hitler devised a plan to take power and it started when he promised the Germans he could make their lives better and easier. Hitler blamed the government for the Great Depression and later rose to power in 1933. The German President placed him in a high position in government. This is where Hitler started to really take over and make the Jews lives miserable. Hitler was able to take over because of the poor environment and the need for a strong
