The scarcity mindset is a mindset in which a person constantly worries about the outcomes and about achieving goals set out in life. The author mentions this type of mindset when he says, ¨it is now being shown in quite a lot of studies that you actually perform better if you don't put yourself under the scarcity mindset, if you don’t worry about the outcomes and enjoy the process of doing something, rather than the goal.¨ This is true seeing that worrying about the future and the amount of success you hope to achieve in the end result can lead to a lot of anxiety which can make the process of accomplishing the goal much more stressful and even lead to an overall weaker performance. Similar to this, there are examples in my own life about the scarcity mindset. My parents constantly talk to me about what college I need to go to, what grades I should be getting, and much more. They even try to restrict the amount of extracurriculars I have because they worry so much about my grades and the chance that I wont get a high SAT score. Since my parents are worrying about the numbers instead of me enjoying high school and being involved in other activities, it seems as if they have a scarcity mindset which makes the whole experience of high school more stressful. Therefore, having a scarcity mindset approach to life is unhealthy because it can weaken your sense of happiness as you overthink about what the future holds for
