Rather than see herself through her own eyes, she perceives and personifies superficial flaws through the eyes of a male, which is also the male gaze. This is what drives her to murderous insanity that destroys her. Snow White’s beauty is so powerful, the Queen must kill her to become the most beautiful. This project is important to me because it shows how women were perceived as and how much society is influenced by this even till this day. The project as a whole has really opened up my eyes to seeing the message behind movies in a different perspective. For instance, it is obvious that Snow White is domesticated by the dwarves and has not much power besides her beauty. It is also noticeable how she waits along for Prince Charming to come find her then to come save her. Snow White almost seems useless by herself but what really struck out to me is how the whole story is driven by the magic mirror based on a male’s perpective. If it wasn’t for the magic mirror telling the Evil Queen that the fairest of them all is Snow White, none of her insanity would of happened. Also, the fact that Snow White can not literally
