You are the supervisor of SPC Smith and they are preparing to attend the Brigade (BDE) Soldier of the Quarter board. SPC Smith has consistently scored 270 plus on all of their APFT’s. At the last minute BDE request a DA Form 705 with 30 days of the board. You know that SPC Smith has been battling the flu for the past week but you administer the APFT as directed so you do not miss a deadline from BDE.…
Group I, Category 30 Insufficient Documentation to Show Conformance to Procedural Requirements When A Disability Determination is Based on Unresolved Work Activity That Could Affect the Decision. 9… Candidate Allison lacked command presence when she issued her order to her fire team. SNC was visibly uncomfortable with the five paragraph order and stumbled through the order. SNC did not brief the Admin and Logistics paragraph nor the Command and Signal paragraph. SNC made references that alluded to sections within the five paragraph order, but there was no connection as to the five paragraph order itself.…
SNC attempted to operate in a non-tactical setting by having the fire team step off in condition four. SNC was reminded by a fellow candidate to go to condition…
8. SNC provided the bare minimum information required for his five paragraph order. He lacked in confidence and when he was not sure of his azimuth he guessed a number and gave it to his fire team member responsible for the navigation. This decision would have gotten his fire team lost, but his fire team member corrected him. SNC was able to generate a plan and make decisions but they were not confident and well thought out decisions.…
SGT Kurgat and I discussed SPC Henry's Article 15 and we agreed that proceeding with a summarized Article 15 will suffice. CPT Salter and SFC Mickles support our decision. SPC Henry attended his Behavioral Health and appointment and they recommend that he is seen once a week. SPC Henry continued to deny everything in the memos and the email from the Provider.…
While briefing, SNC appeared nervous and was physically shaking during his order and much of the execution. SNC did not adapt well to the situation and did not execute in a timely manner. When his initial plan was clearly not working, he became fixated on continuing to attempt the same thing over and over and did not adjust his plan until it was too late to…
The content of the order made since but was stated out of order and missing some minor supporting elements. During the brief the SNC stumbled over words and stuttered because he was unsure or was developing his plan as he briefed. This showed a lack of preparation and initial plan. SNC lacked fluidity and confidence during his transition that slowed down forward movement. SNC did not establish a basic level of security.…
Candidate DeYoung timidly issued his five paragraph order. Throughout his brief, SNC was very hesitant and uncertain. SNC consistently stuttered or stumbled over his words. SNC covered some of the key points briefed to him, and others were left out such as the distance of the objective. SNC failed to display of confidence during the brief of the order.…
This assignment seemed just like any other. There was a deadline and guidelines and goals that were going to dictate the structure of it. I, however, didn’t know that I was wrong, and it was going to be far from any other. I have a habit, a detrimental one, that was slowly being fed and reassured as “ok” the more and more I went through my schooling. That habit has a name, procrastination, yet I never saw it as a problem because with every assignment and paper I wrote the night before and was able to get a decent grade, there was this unconscious signal that reassure me that if done once, it could be done again.…
G-4 Sailors were performing a S-4 check on the 4th Deck Elevator Hatch door. AO3 Jones was cleaning the grease from the dogs when another Sailor from the 2nd Deck operated the manifold "pushed pin" and dogs moved from open to closed and her index finger got caught. She could not remove the finger until the Sailor operating the manifold opened the dogs. Sailors were not using head set communication instead they were using a runner. Communication works 5.0.…
Richard Gelles expresses his concern with the failings of the child welfare system and proposes four key solutions to the issues at hand. First he proposes an elimination of the mandated reporting required for professionals that work with children. He suggests that they should not be required to report abuse because the mandatory reporting of child abuse has flooded the system deeming it ineffective. I can agree that the surge of reports can cause a clog in the system if many are false or insignificant. I also think that Gelles has the right idea in advising the definition of child abuse be modified to be less general in hopes that the system can focus on more severe maltreatment cases.…
For decades, public schools prepared children to be good citizens—and good factory workers. Students were expected to sit, listen, and do exactly as they were told. In some respects, this model served high school graduates well since they learned to follow directions in ways that would be valuable to their future…
This Political Science journey has been something else. This semester alone has been one for the books. The one and only Political Science class I took this semester was Intro to Public Policy. There was a multitude of things I took away from this class. In this essay, I am going to explore the entire semester of being in Public Policy.…
