According to U.S. Official News, “Smoking is the most preventable cause of death in the United States” (Smoking: Do you know the Risks? 2015). The highest percent of smokers are between the ages of 21-34. It is said that smokers usually die more than 10 years earlier than those who don’t smoke. Today, there is much urgency for men and women to take an incentive to stop smoking cigarettes because most importantly it harms oneself. It is said smoking “for a man, it is not gallant, noble, and doesn’t show strength of character” (Sasman 23). Put simply, “a woman should quit for the sake of love; a man should quit for the sake of courage” (Sasman 23). Most anti-tobacco education and advertising predominantly focus on the basic risks such as lung cancer and heart disease but fail to go in depth on the effects on one’s strength and physical appearance, the effects on newborns and the mother, diseases such as impotence (erectile dysfunction) that targets men and
