Introduction:

The purpose of this assignment is to make an analysis of current services and programs to offer suggestions for improvement. This data will hopefully be used as a helpful and easy way to those reviewing the suggestions for the Smiths Falls Public Library.
The community is a small area surrounded nature and a lovely view of its bodies of water, this includes a waterfall. Smith falls community location is near Queen Street and Brockville Street. With the well-known Rideau River flowing through the town. The smith falls public library is on 81 Beckwith St. N. Smith Falls. Looking at their website there doesn’t appear to have other branches of their library but they do serve the public. Their contact information is (613) 283-2911

These days many people follow social media so to see that this library hasn’t updated since 2012 makes it look like it isn’t active. Users may not know to come to their library. However, they do keep up with their news which is shown to the user when they first come to the website. Smith Falls library does show an effort to provide summer reading clubs for its users. They have an online collection catalogue that their users can look at.

Ideas of what I would do for this library would be to, 1 to try to give their website an upgrade, 2 figure out what the community enjoys in their past time; using this information will give the staff an idea what they can do to bring in new people.

Not only do they need to update their library, but they need to update their coding. An example is when clicking on News. You are brought to older news supplied by the library however, you see the latest news involving the library front page.

Viewing their website further it appears they have no other branches to their library. They do not update as much as I would like or if they do update it is about one program and the library looking for positions to be filled.

This community is a small area with an approximate population of 8,780 people. The library I am analysing is the Smith Falls Public Library which is located on 81 Beckwith St. N. Smith Falls. Their phone number is (613) 283-2911 and if you need a fax number it is (613) 283-9834. They have common community services libraries provide to their users. There are no current events provided however, they do have programs planned for their users which can be viewed on the front page by a link called “March Children’s
