However, in varies on individuals and the sport itself. In most instances, there are pros and cons. For example, starting to early in a specific sport could lead to burnout. Besides experiencing burnout, injuries could be an issue for the athlete on a later date if starting to early. It is essential for young athletes to start specialization at the optimal time. A good coach is not only determined on how many medals or trophies won for the team. First of all, to the coach should earn the respect of the athlete. This is so that there will not be any conflicts, and to create a positive training environment for both players and coaches. Being a coach for adolescent, it is not just about winning, to teach impart players with the right attitude, morals and life-skills on and off the pitch are essential as well. “Coach for life, not just the game”, a coach builds character and winners. (John wooden). Overall teaching which includes the game skills, knowledge and life skills makes a good coach. It is the duty of the coach to enforce behaviors in and out the court (building character). At the end of the day, people recognize and remember you for who you are, not for the trophies you have won. Coaches are the ones making impact on the journey of the young athletes. The common goal is to win championship but at the same time, to ensure that the athletes have the necessary experience and skills to climb onto the next level of their path, building winners.
