The movie, Smoke Signals, and the book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, have many similarities. One similarity is the relationship between Victor and Thomas. Their relationship is very similar to Junior’s and Rowdy’s relationship because Junior still wants to be friends with Rowdy even, though Rowdy doesn’t like him. Victor’s relationship with Thomas is very similar to theirs because Thomas wants to be friends with Victor even though he doesn’t like Thomas. Another similarity is the reservations being poor in both the movie and the book; they both didn’t have a lot of money for things, and the character's dads were both alcoholics. Their dads both being alcoholics, caused many family issues in both of the families.
