An officer who made a difference in his community, and one that abused and mistreated his power. “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.” (General James Mattis, A.K.A Gen Mad Dog Mattis) Between Mark Fuhrman and James Zadroga the stories of their past will fall between each officer. One tried making life better for everyone, and one failed the system. James Zadroga is a very influential police officer. Meanwhile Mark Fuhrman was a very sly officer, many out cast him as a racist. Zadroga was born in 1971 and died in 2006. Zadroga was following in his father’s footsteps to become a police officer. When Zadroga became ill he left the police force and moved him, his wife, and his daughter to Florida. Mr. Fuhrman …show more content…
After he was seen as a good officer he was promoted to detective. Zadroga was on his way home from work one day when he heard about a plane hitting the world trade center, so he turned back to town. He then spent 450 hours searching the site for life. Fuhrman on the other hand was an all for me type of person. He joined the United States Marine Corps, and honorably discharged for racist remarks. After he joined the LA police Department. After a few years he became a detective, soon he found himself in the OJ Simson trial as lead detective. …show more content…
When Zadroga wasn’t on duty, he spent his free time working on finding life after the towers had collapsed. During this time Zadroga inhaled toxic fumes from the collapse of the towers they passed the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation act after his death. Helping out hundreds of people and their sicknesses because of the attack. Fuhrman spent 20 years in the police force. Many didn’t look up to him, for they thought he was a racist. After the OJ Simpson trial that he lost for putting false evidence in an active crime scene, they also brought up the fact that 10 years before he was put on video of say the n-word to African Americans. After the trial Fuhrman wrote 7 crime books about things he had been the lead detective of. (“Mead”;”McKenna”;”Mark”;”Jung”)
Zadroga will not be forgotten. Just because he didn’t pass on 9/11 doesn’t mean he’s not a part of the casualties. Fuhrman will always be labeled as a racist. Would you be willing to be an officer in our time now like Zadroga was, or make officers of your time look bad like Furman did? After the research I have found we see that one office cared about what he was doing and one that didn’t care about his career. Jordan Baker, however, was not breaking any laws or engaged in any unlawful conduct. Officer Castro claims that he confronted Jordan Baker because he looked “suspicious,” but Castro’s basis for claiming that Baker looked “suspicious” was based on Baker’s race and the fact that he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
