Have you ever known someone who was very greedy? Well is the play Macbeth the main character Macbeth becomes very hungry for power. There was one person who Macbeth had an interesting contact with. The characters of Macbeth and Macduff are adversaries in the tragedy, however certain similarities can be cited. The differences and similarities contribute to Macbeth’s tragic ending and Macduff’s resolution.
Similarities between Macduff and Macbeth are their names. They have very similar names making them almost seem to be the same person or twins. They are both married and seem to be happy. Macbeth seems more like he does everything that Lady Macbeth says or suggests. Macduff and Macbeth were friends more or less when they were apart of Duncan’s army. The third apparition was of eight kings that pass and the last one has a glass in his hand, then Banquo follows. At this point Macbeth freaks out and makes the apparition disappear. Macbeth comes to the conclusion that Macduff is going against him, so he orders Macduff’s family to be murdered. With Macduff’s wife murdered and Macbeth’s wife’s suicide they both had different reactions to the deaths. Macduff knew that it had to of been Macbeth. Macduff lost his loving wife and his kids, and wants revenge on Macbeth for taking their lives. As for when Lady Macbeth died Macbeth had no emotional response. Macbeth was mad at her for doing it at such a bad time. Towards the end of the play both, Macbeth and Macduff, have motive for murder. Macbeth’s motive was for himself.
