Spanish and Portuguese was the native language. Americans without Latin decent adapted Latin elements. Particularly, dancing music, percussion instruments and jazz. The south has a different story, around the 1940’s in Texas, Texans with Mexican decent around that time grew into the country style and made it their own twist. Tejano music is a Latin version of Country music. Tejano is a hybrid of homeland influence with rural parts of Texas. Flaco Jimenez is a Tejano artist and one of the persons that helped push Tejano style of music. Jimenez is the son, and student of another pioneer of Tejano music named Santiago Jimenez. Both Flaco and Santiago were Accordion musicians. After mastering the accordion Tejano style, he set off to explore and learn other styles of music. This led with collaborations with rock guitarist, rock bands, and country singers. Tejano is every unique. It isn’t just one type of style, it’s several in one. In the same way Both Tejano and Jazz have similar things in common. Both learn their style from someone that typically they made their own version to. Both push their life and stories into the music they created. Both Latin and Jazz artists made the time to explore and travel to make their style grow in the music industry. Tejano music consisted with Spanish storytelling lyrics. Tejano’s instrument uniqueness comes from a special guitar named “bajo sexto”, when translated means Lower sixths. The guitar had twelve strings. It was used back in the past to serve as support for the rhythm section. Another instrument is the accordion. The accordion gave a straight forward polka rhythm that was learned from Germans. The instruments of Tejano music work in collective pairs were which both vocals and instrumental lock in together in movement of the songs. Jazz has a wider range of band instruments. Jazz bands has two parts which one is called front line. It consists of clarinet, cornet or trumpet, and trombone. These instrument have most of the melody. The second half is the rhythm section. it consists of banjo, piano, tuba, brass bass, and drums. The style of the front line is very unique. They perform with collective improvisation, which means the front line musicians improvise at the same
