Need to avenge their father’s
When Shakespeare removes the aspect of human nature that allows us to have that impulse to seek out revenge and display the different reactions to that impulse. Applying this impulse into three different characters in Hamlet, showed the results of their reaction to the death of their fathers. As Laertes, Fortinbras, and Hamlet seek out revenge for their murdered fathers’. Each son shows different ways on how they go about getting their revenge. Shakespeare illuminates and enhances similarities and differences between each of the sons’ responses. Laertes is non hesitant in taking part in the king’s plan to kill Hamlet. By challenging Hamlet in a match hoping to stab him with the poison-tipped rapier. Then here comes at the end of the play with Fortinbras marching with his army to Denmark. His plan for revenge is very rational and calm, but he does take action in getting his revenge. Although Fortinbras father was not killed by the former king Hamlet, he wishes to gain back honor to his family and claim the lost lands for his father. Young Fortinbras positive and rational way for getting revenge to avenge his father is no coincidence for his survival in Hamlet. His way makes him be seen as the most superior by the end. These sons all wanted to avenge their fathers, in which the all devised a plan to get it. Hamlet avenged his father but also ended his life when doing so. Laertes plan did not work as well since his plan with the king of Denmark backfires. Finally young Fortinbras calm plans for revenge lands him the position of being the most superior of the others when it comes to devising a plan for
