Similarities Between Blessings And The Count Of Monte Cristo

In The Count Of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and a scene from Blessings by Mary Hall Surfaces, the two pieces of text show the common theme of importance of friendship, as both the protagonists, Jesse from Blessings and Edmond of The Count Of Monte Cristo, both face challenges and remain faithful because of friendly friendships they form. In The Count Of Monte Cristo, Edmond is a prisoner, wanting and hoping to get out of the prison he is in. The jailer, Dantes, starts to form a friendship with Edmond and begins talking about all the things he does and does not like. Additionally, the author goes on and shows the plan of Edmond wanting to escape, because he had hope after he made a friend with the jailer. If the jailer had not been kind to Edmond, Edmond would have not had the idea to escape and trying to gain his freedom back.
