During his time under the apprenticeship of his brother, he wrote his own articles and published them under a pen name, which his brother was livid about. Tired of his brother’s dominant behavior, he later ran away to Pennsylvania at the age of seventeen. During his time in Pennsylvania, he published the Pennsylvania gazette which was very popular among the settlers. His articles discussed society’s lack of freedom. Later on in his life, he helped draft the Declaration of Independence.
Benjamin Franklin’s perspective on how the New England colonies were treated was a positive influence on him because he wanted to help American become its own country. It was a further spark in his rebellious nature.
In retrospect, Benjamin Franklin and Pocahontas helped benefit the Southern and Northern colonies. Pocahontas brought more settlers to America while Benjamin Franklin wanted America to break free from England and become its own country. They both rebelled against their people in their own way. Pocahontas embraced English society, Franklin abhorred it. The end result is though they were from two different sides, ethnically and regionally. Pocahontas and Benjamin Franklin are connected after
