According to codes of honor, the way of the samurai, Document E it says that “In discharging loyal service to his master...to be loyal to the king.” The knight took vows of true knighthood, just like fiance's on their wedding day. If the samurai break the rules of the way he shall be punished. The roles of the knights and samurai play are important because it effects in and out of battle/training. They had different codes of honor samurai were Bushido and knights were Chivalry. Both codes are to be loyal and respectful the leaders, women and others. The only people they shouldn't be loyal to is their enemies. In addition codes of honor the way of the samurai, Document E, it states that “ In one's own life, one becomes unavoidably involved in obligations between father child etc. ...always be courteous and helpful to ladies.” They had to be in the war and the leader of their family. They learned how to be loyal from their masters. There family was important as was fighting in the war. The samurai confines himself for practicing the way. They were good role models for there young children. They did have to work hard be loyal and respectful every day at home and in the war and they still managed to pull everything off.
The opposite would argue samurai and knights are more different than alike. Although the other side believes there's more differences than similarities, however they are incorrect. There are more similarities found in the documents then differences. Even though they are far away from each other they have similar styles of life. Also both values time spent in battle and with family. Lastly they both appreciate life and
