Sicko Movie Analysis

The movie “Sicko” by Michael Moore is very eye opening. Before watching that movie, I honestly did not have clue to what the scandal was in health insurance. I was aware that certain people do not qualify for health insurance but I did not know why. After watching that movie, it was very disturbing and upsetting to realize how our health system and government truly works. It is expected for doctors to help those in need. Unfortunately, doctors do not care much about their patients; they are mostly concerned about their paycheck. Even if doctors did care about their patients, it is their obligation to follow strict guidelines, which can bring serious consequences to someone in need. Those guidelines could include refusing service to someone who might desperately need it, but cannot afford to pay for their treatments. …show more content…
My mother does not qualify for health insurance and I know she desperately needs it. She suffers from back pain, arthritis, head pulses, and high cholesterol. She is only able to afford the medicines that help balance out her high cholesterol. However, the medicine she buys for her high cholesterol is awfully expensive and she struggles a lot saving up to buy it. In some occasions, she is not able to buy it. I am aware that she is getting worse through time, more health problems are showing up with her and unfortunately, we cannot do much. My family and I live with the fear that her high cholesterol could cause her to have a stroke. We live with the fear that today or tomorrow could be her last day. Perhaps if she had health insurance, there would be more help offered to her and she could live longer; my family and I would then be able to calm the tensions that arise from our
