The use of technology in classrooms today can be somewhat beneficial towards today’s youth, yet it can also have a very dark side. For example, we can just pick up a phone and simply say, “Google, what year was The University of South Alabama established?” and Google would answer with, “The University of South Alabama was founded in 1964.” within seconds. It’s beneficial because if someone needs to know the answer to something quickly it can come in handy; however, it can come off as lazy; therefore modern-day technology is taking away, what should be, our common traits.…

The article, “Why Laptops in Class Are Distracting America’s Future Workforce” was written by Timothy D. Snyder in 2010. His purpose in writing this article was to persuade professors against having laptops in the classroom because he feels they are a distraction. Snyder discusses various online chatting forums such as Skype, Gchat, or iChat that students are engaged in on their laptops during class.…

The article “Is Facebook Making Us Lonely?” by Stephen Marche is informative and insightful because the author uses findings of various studies and real-life insights to portray how loneliness and social networking are confounded. Their correlation and confoundedness comprise the theme of this article. He uses the instances to make the readers realize that our connections might have become vast, but most of them are ostensible. The lonelier people get in real time, the more they log on to social networking websites in search of somebody to talk to.…

A positive effect would be that due to Social Media we can communicate with friends and family from all over the world, though the negative effects are that you can be harming your brain due to using Social Media all the time. Limiting the use of Social Media is a really excellent choice because if you don’t limit the use, you can harm your brain and mental Health. In my opinion, teenagers should be able to use social media, but on a limited basis. Social media should be limited because, it affects your brain due to the blue rays, can increase depression caused by cyberbullying, and it also prevents…

Earlier this month I attempted the task of going 24 hours without technology. We had to look at the effects that technology had on us, and at the feelings we had during and after the event. I have to admit it was hard to undergo this task, I am a freshmen in college, and I find that I use technology everyday almost all day long. I wanted to take it a step farther and see what it’s like being a high school student and how much technology they use in a day, and what they use it for. Technology is always growing into something bigger and better.…
