Case Analysis

My case analysis is about Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow. He is known for his racketeering (doing illegal business) charges. The two newspaper articles I researched were from “The New York Times” and “The San Jose Mercury News”. My two newspaper articles explain who he is and the latest news on his trial. I am going to compare the articles and see how he’s portrayed. The first article is called, “Who is “Shrimp Boy” Chow?” and it’s from the San Jose Mercury News by Howard Mintz. In this article, Mintz gives us some basic facts on the “Asian organized crime figure”. He was born in Hong Kong and real name is Kwok Cheung Chow. His nickname “Shrimp Boy” came from his grandmother. Chow has been convicted

In comparison, the language that was used in these two articles is formal and direct.
Title of each article Each title of the articles are informing and questioning. From the first article, “Who is “Shrimp Boy” Chow? Is just saying who is he and why is he important? The second article, “The Latest: Defendant to testify in racketeering case” is just explaining recently that he (Chow) is going to testify in his own case since there is no evidence on him.
Negative/Positive adjectives
There are equally positive and negative adjectives in the articles. Most negative adjectives describe him as a criminal. The positive adjectives are informing and explain what’s going to happen next with his

I Heart Huckabee’s starts out with a character by the name Albert Markovski, he is an environmental activist who is distressed about how most American 's have absolutely no interest in saving the natural world from corporate malls and boundless developments. In the early moments of the movie he experiences a series of events that lead him to believe that they are coincidences and they have left him confused and interested at the same time. The reoccurrence of running in to the same tall African man left him in thoughts of what was the underlying cause to him running into him three different times.…

In recent years, the media has increased their coverage of crime reporting, more specifically, in suburban neighbourhoods. Although violent crime rates are low, the covering of these stories has increased in the last few decades. Therefore, it does not come as a surprise that several media platforms have been closely following up with the “Scarborough crossbow killings”. The Toronto Star is one of many media outlets that have published articles regarding Brett Ryan’s case.…

For many years throughout history, much debate and controversy has been sparked with respect to Canada’s correctional system and criminal justice system. Canada’s criminal justice system has thrived/strived to work as a consolidated unified entity aimed at reducing, maintaining, and preventing crime and criminal activity. However, great controversy remains as to whether or not Canada’s criminal justice system is effective. It can be argued, for example, that Canada’s system of criminal justice is aimed at striving to achieve and meet specified goals, entities, or principles. In terms of sentencing a criminal offender, for example, sentencing can either be based on the principles of crime control or due process.…

Additionally, the paper will explain how the cost of traffic tickets lead to the incarceration of people who cannot afford the tickets. The last one had me puzzled. I was thinking, if they know the inmates are in the trailer, why don't they just go in and get them? What the article actually reported was that the two had hidden in a trailer which was driven out of prison, allowing them to escape. I grew up speaking and reading English (the American version, that is). Imagine the difficulty faced by a non-native speaker who learns proper English and then reads the local rag or tries to make sense out of reports by "talking heads" on new…
