Should Teachers Have Guns Research Paper

I’d like to start my essay by saying that opinions vary by person and their experiences. For that being, I think teachers should have weapons. Although, teachers would have to earn them by proving their sanity to the district that they are able to properly use and store a weapon. Continuous trainings and procedure reminders can gain this. Due to all these problems witnessed, we as people need to be prepared for what’s next. This brings attention to how far we are willing to go with teachers carrying a hand gun. Since the meeting that they had in the white house president trump wants to allow teachers to carry a gun because he believes that they could have prevented that problem that they had in Florida. In fact, if teachers been in the any type a military experience they should have a chance to have a weapon in school where its safe in class.

However, Mr. Trump said he wants highly adept people. This includes people who understand weapons, and people who are eligible for a permit to carry concealed firearms in schools. President Trump quoted “just like I want my banks safe, I want all my schools safe too”. Also, schools should have gun drills where guns are loaded with blanks, so we could prevent an

Most teachers in Texas have their gun in safe boxes. Although there are other ways such as Baer catting the door. Also, we have the right to bear arms according to our second amendment. If a teacher is legally allowed to carry and has proper training, then my opinion leans towards to allowing teachers to bear arms. If teachers are willing to take the time to train, they should perform excellent in situations. For example, if a teacher has a permit for a fire arm that means that they are responsible. Actions come with consequences and most teachers know that. Therefore, many teachers would be expected to be responsible for how they manage their

This year alone there have been over twenty mass shootings (“2018 School Shootings”, Para. 1). Mass shootings have been a major problem for decades, it all started with the shooting at Columbine the most famous one. Ever since that shooting things have been spiraling out of control with no fix. The fix that we have needed for decades was arming teachers. Teachers should most definitely be armed because it would prevent more people from being killed, deter shooters from entering schools in the first place, and increase school safety overall.…

Although on a rare occasion there may be an iniquitous teacher, the vast majority are benevolent people who are willing to save lives. In various deadly situations of the past, teachers have saved lives by the means of a gun. Because a gun was easily accessible, a Missouri teacher stopped a shooter who “killed two students and wounded seven others at a high school” (Malcolm, 2016, p. 6). However, due to current gun-free zones, the likelihood that a teacher has access to a gun is very slim. By providing every teacher with a gun, more situations like that of Missouri would occur, rather than more situations like the Connecticut shooting at…

There are already several ISD’s in Texas who are considering having armed teachers on campuses. Proposals offered by the gun lobby to repeal the federal Gun-Free School Zones Act and arm teachers as a solution to curb those rare instances of gun violence at school. Teachers are not trained law enforcement officers – their purpose is to be educators and role models. Gun violence prevention measures for our schools should focus on educating kids about the dangers of firearms, and reminding gun-owning parents to safely own and secure firearms and ammunition, rather than on arming teachers. A study of 37 school shootings in 26 states found that in nearly two-thirds of the incidents, the attacker got the gun from his or her own home or…

Much of the authority over whether to allow guns in schools rests at the state and local levels. In Ohio, school boards are allowed to arm school personnel but are not required to notify the public that they have done so. In some states, teachers and other employees can carry a gun without anyone’s knowledge, including that of school authorities, so long as they hold a valid concealed-carry permit. No one knows how many schools in the United States have armed teachers or staff members. It was a free three day gun class in Rittman k-12 public school employees offers by the Buckeye Firearms.…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

The fact that the firearms are concealed is crucial. Since the handguns are concealed, a criminal would be unable to detect whether a classroom has armed staff or not (Crime Prevention Research Center). Students who are nervous when seeing firearms wouldn't be scared because the handguns would be hidden. President Trump advises school boards to protect the staff of each district with insurance to reduce the risk of liability, which should put those with concern for the staff at ease (“Arming Teachers and School Staff”).…

Specialists have grasped the concept of becoming proactive instead of reactive to situations where lives are at stake. Professionals believe that arming teachers in school districts can help protect children from the up rise of violence in school. Although this idea may be a headed in the right direction, I feel as if there are more effective procedures. Hiring armed security guards removes the cost a school would have to pay to train teachers. This will also eliminate the risk of schools being dropped from their insurance policies or having to pay more as a result of having armed teachers.…

These teachers should go through the most intensive background check because they have the ability to hurt a lot more kids than a random person trying to shoot up a school. If the teachers can get a hold on a gun and then tell the guy with the gun that every class is packed and ready to shoot then I believe the maniac will come to his senses and get out of the school. I feel the same way about guns in the workplace. For example at my mom's shop, she was looking at the cameras and someone was breaking into a truck late at night and instead of my mom having a gun for self-defense at her work place she had to take cover as the robber shot a bullet in her direction. This is why I feel so strongly about gun rights and where you can and can't take them.…
