Teenagers are reckless and irresponsible. This is because the brain of a 16 year old has yet to fully develop. Teens who partake in distracted driving are not only putting themselves at risk.. But those in the car with them and those around them. At the age of 18, an adolescent isn’t considered a “teen” anymore. This is important because insurance becomes cheaper for adults rather than teens. Studies from 2013 show that “young people ages 15-19 represented only 7% of the U.S. population. Studies from 2014 show that “2,270 teens in the United States ages 16–19 were killed and 221,313 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. That means that six teens ages 16–19 died every day from motor vehicle injuries.” If a student driver would have more hands-on learning the amount of wrecks within the first year of having a license would subside. Time and age isn't the reason why a car crash occurs. A car crash occurs when a driver is not fully aware of his/her surroundings.
