I also believe that screen time can become an addiction which causes children not to be able to put down a device.
Between 2011-2013 children 8 and under have doubled their screen usage. Children under 2 is an even higher amount, given this age group should not be having any screen time this is very upsetting. Research also shows that children who tend to have alot of screen time are obese and often depressed. These children also upset their internal time clock from staring at the light from the screen for hours and potentially mess up there sleep pattern. Which is very concerning for development as sleep is a major component.
Children today lack the ability to problem solve due to their fake perception of life whether it be through a game or a television show. It causes them to be socially inept because they would rather be with a device then an actual person.
I recently read a book that linked violent video games to the amount of mass shootings we are now seeing in the past ten years in the United States. Due to the glorified violence and lack of reprocussions in the game it brings some people to act out these crimes as their judgement has been skewed.
