In the story “Seventh Grade,” Victor, the main character, learns that he should think before he acts through his embarrassing moments. An example of this occurs when the protagonist states, “La me vave me con le grandma” (Soto). Even though Victor tried to sound like French, his teacher’s reaction made him believe that his teacher found out that Victor did not know French. Therefore, Victor was embarrassed from stating a fake French sentence. As noted in section twenty-four, “Teresa,” Victor (answered) automatically (to the teacher) (and) some of the girls giggled (in a low tone). They knew he had a crush on Teresa (Soto).
