Mother and son was driving from Florida to Utah to get away from a man she was afraid of and to get rich in mining. The car was in bad shape and was giving her a lot of trouble. While letting the car cool off at some point they saw a truck passing by that seem to have lost its brakes and crash. The mother was really shaken up about this. They made it to Utah but not in time for mining season and could find any available place to stay. The mother gave her trouble car away and bought a different car. She decided to travel to Salt Lake City to find a job and uranium.

The boy is telling the story. He is very smart and knows how to manipulate a situation to get what he wants. He wants his mother to be free and reach her dreams of transformation.

The boy is 10 years old and his name is Toby.
The mother was raised in Beverly Hills and lived very comfortably and dated a man with wealth.
The boy is the narrator. He is telling the story about his mother’s life, dreams and trip to Utah and Salt Lake City. The mother doesn’t interact with the narrator.
The implicit conflict text presents the story of the mother’s life. The explicit conflict presents the life the boy is living with his mother. The conflicts tell us about the life this boy lives through his mother’s pass and present life. Freedom and wealth is important to the mother. To see his mom achieve reach her goals of freedom and wealth is important to the boy.
