Short Story: Castiel

Nana was sitting on the bed, going through the pictures on her phone, when Castiel appeared in the room. He didn’t make any noise when he came into the room, he never did, but it always felt like static electricity filled the air. It used to be that this cloud of electricity, this feeling of energy and warmth, was always around her. It had been almost two month since she had felt it, praying every night for him to come and see her, to talk to her, anything. Until tonight her prayers had gone unanswered. “You requested to see me,” Castiel sighed when Nana didn’t look up. She flicked through all the pictures of her and Castiel, kissing, holding hands, laughing. It seemed like ages since they had felt that happy together, since she had even …show more content…
“Don’t tell me that you’re getting emotional. It would be rather inconvenient,” Castiel sighed as a tear escaped her eye and slid slowly down her cheek. “I don’t have time to waste with you weeping on my shoulder.” “What about Sam and Dean?” Nana’s voice was a croak when it came out. “What about them?” Castiel sighed. “Have they gotten themselves killed again? Or better yet, they made a deal with something and are on a killing spree?” “Sam was bleeding to death in his brother’s arms. Dean was screaming for you, praying to you, and you couldn’t even be fucking bothered to come and try and save him? After everything?” Nana screamed. She wanted something from Castiel, even anger would be better than his flat eyes. All she could feel was anger, but it was better than breaking down and sobbing at his feet, begging for him to tell her that he was lying. Begging him to tell her that he cared, even for a …show more content…
“Wouldn’t you know? Haven’t you been in heaven all this time?” Nana spat, letting the anger consume her completely. Anger was good, even though it was causing her to cry and shake as well, it was holding her together. “You think Sam would make it to heaven? That boy is tainted beyond repair, a soul so wrecked and scared that even hell hounds wouldn’t want it. He’s be lucky to end up in purgatory with the other monsters, if not back down with Lucifer. Honestly, it was better for everyone when he was locked down in the cage. He’d cause less trouble that way,” Casitel shrugged. Nana wasn’t sure what came over her in that moment, but she strode across the room and smacked him hard across the face. Castiel’s face didn’t even turn and her hand throbbed. While Castiel talking about how little she mattered made her feel empty, no one should speak about Sam like that. He wasn’t perfect, but to say that he should be down in the cage, it wasn’t Cas. Castiel had tried to save Sam so many times. He was Sam’s friend. “What happened to you?” Nana was crying now, her hand aching from the hit. It was nice to feel a pain that she could see instead of the breaking of her
