Reading and writing have had a huge impact on me throughout my entire life. From the time I was born, to the age I am now. I experienced these two most important concepts throughout kindergarten, middle school, and high school.
Children start to learn language from the moment they are born. As they grow and develop, their speech and language skills increase dramatically. My kindergarten year came, and this was the year I began to learn the basics of reading and writing; for instance, I started to understand and use language to express my ideas, feelings, and to communicate with others. This was the year where I had started to learn reading and writing from everything that goes on around me, whether it 's story time, show and tell, recess, or even snack time. Learning the beginning concepts of both reading and writing were accomplished by learning how to print my name, print letters and the alphabet, and just reading and seeing words at home, classrooms, and on signs. Sherman Alexie had once said, “I’m a good writer who may be a great writer one day. I’m harder on myself than anybody.” What Alexie meant by this quote was he wanted to be a writer, but he always doubted himself, and he had always tried to hard, but he never did give up, and in order for him to become a great writer, he had to quit doubting himself. This quote happens to relate with me, because I am a terrible writer, and whenever I write an essay, I always delete so much, and I constantly always overthink too much and doubt myself.
