The ROYAL SHELL DUTCH usually called as SHELL by people all over the world. And, is known as SPDC in Nigeria (Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited). SPDC along with JV with NNPC, NAOC and TOTAL had planned to develop the Dodo - NAG Wells Project to meet the objectives of the company. Along with business objectives the idea of SPDC was to help locals by supplying domestic gas and bring the gas flares down (Flaring into atmosphere also known as emission of gases causing pollution and wastage of energy) as the field has potential to get developed due to discoveries of NAG reservoirs in recent times in vicinity of OML 35.

So the chairman of Shell Jorma Ollila also stressed and mentioned in his address that “The energy business are essential for economic growth and for raising living standards amongst the world’s poorest people. Equally, as the growing concern over climate change shows, providing those energy supplies in a way that minimises the impact on the environment is one of the greatest challenges” (Shell Annual report, 2006).
